United to start providing a nonstop flight from Anchorage to Los Angeles

ANCHORAGE (KTUU) - You soon will be able to get your SoCal fix with a new service from United Airlines.

United announced it'll start a new nonstop summer seasonal service between its hub in Los Angeles and Anchorage.

Tickets will be available for purchase on Saturday, October 12 for travel beginning June 18, 2020, through Aug. 17, 2020.

United will also offer summer service between Anchorage and five of its hubs including:


  • Twice daily service from Chicago (ORD)

  • Twice daily service from Denver (DEN)

  • Daily service from New York/Newark (EWR)

  • Daily service from Houston (IAH)

  • Daily service from San Francisco (SFO)

In other airlines news, Alaska Airlines will start direct flights from Anchorage to San Francisco. Spokesperson for Alaska Airlines, Tim Thompson, says the non-stop service will begin in April.

Plus, Alaska Airlines and American Airlines are ending their miles partnership. The Alaska Journal of Commerce reported Wednesday that Alaska Airlines mileage plan members will not be able to earn miles on American Airlines international flights beginning March 1.
