VALDEZ, Alaska (KTUU) - A man has been arrested and will face criminal charges of manslaughter and more, after police say he struck and killed a woman outside of a Valdez-area bar.

According to the Valdez Police Department, the incident took place in the early morning hours of Sunday, April 8.

Then, police say a green 2017 Dodge Ram 2500 was driving along Chitina Drive. Behind the wheel was allegedly Ero Walli, 46, of Valdez.

At around 2:30 a.m., police receieved calls that a woman had been hit and run over outside of the Boardroom Bar. Witnesses at the scene said the green Dodge hit her, ran over her, and kept driving.

Emergency life-saving measures were given to the woman, later identified as Chellsie Ruby Marie Hoffman, 31. Hoffman was taken to the hospital, but declared dead an hour later.

Officers tracked the vehicle to a home on Falcon Avenue, where they found Walli and the truck. Walli was arrested and taken to the Valdez Jail.

At around 5:30 a.m., officers administered a breath test, where Walli reportedly registered a .305 blood alcohol, a level at which many people will pass out.

Walli will face charges of manslaughter, driving under the influence, and leaving the scene of an accident.
