Veterans share stories in Palmer

PALMER (KTUU) On Sunday about 40 people gathered at the Palmer Depot for a veteran’s town hall, as former military members shared stories from their experience in uniform.

“I wanted to share the experiences with community members,” said, US Army Veteran, Laralia Riley. “What it’s like to have that perspective of war, and then to come home and have that perspective as a civilian.”

The town hall was put on by Team Red, White and Blue. A veterans group that looks to connect veterans to their community.

“An event like this is important because it creates a space where we can talk about that experience of service and the community members can listen,” said, event organizer Amy Bushatz.

The non-profit says it has about 500 members in its Anchorage chapter, and meets for events throughout the week.
