FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTUU) - Though Anchorage hasn't seen any flurries yet, neighbors to the north in Fairbanks are getting some action, and transportation department officials are already plowing.
"The plows are out!" the Alaska Department of Transportation wrote on its Facebook page. "Crews are removing snow from hills and summits, including on the Parks Highway, Chena Ridge and Chena Pump, Murphy Dome, Cleary Summit, and Eagle Summit."
According to DOT, this marks the point in the year where, at least in the Fairbanks region, drivers need to "switch to the winter driving mindset."
The department gave common Alaska winter driving advice, such as slowing down, breaking early, and leaving room between vehicles.
