A Yukon Quest musher was medevaced Thursday after race staff reported he was injured, troopers say.

The races official web page describes, "The veteran musher from Alberta had to press the help button on his Race Tracking device."

The online dispatch reports 43-year-old Jason Campeau was moved to a warm cabin after race officials found him injured on Wednesday, but the Rescue Coordination Center helicopter wasn’t able to locate him until the following day.

Troopers say the Army helicopter relaunched from Ft. Wainwright and at around 12:50 p.m. Thursday then found and transported the Canadian musher to Fairbanks Memorial Hospital.

His wife Jennifer also scratched from the Race, citing personal reasons.
