May the Fourth be with you: Star Warriors build lightsabers at Mountain View Library

Star Wars fans celebrate May the Fourth by constructing paper lightsabers.

ANCHORAGE (KTUU) May the Fourth is a day revered by Star Wars fans across the country as an opportunity to travel back to a galaxy far, far away.
And, of course, to remind friends, fellow Star Wars fans, and loved ones of the enduring Jedi mantra "May the Force be with you."

In Anchorage, Star Wars troops spent time Friday constructing their very own lightsabers at the Mountain View Library, though the devices were not fully armed for safety purposes.

Accompanying the revered holiday is the release of a new clip featuring legendary Star Wars characters Han Solo and Chewbacca from the upcoming movie "Solo: a Star Wars Story."

Among the Star Wars faithful is Youth Services librarian Andrew Allard, who is also looking forward to the release of the latest update to the franchise.

"May the Fourth is an awesome holiday, so I love promoting it," Allard said. "I'm super interested in watching the 'Solo' movie because he's one of my favorite characters in the original movies."

In line with today's celebration is the beginning of ticket sales for "Solo: a Star Wars story" which debuts in theaters on May 25.
