Fairbanks (KTUU) The 2020 Iron Dog is underway, and 29 teams have left the starting line in Fairbanks.

Many racers commented on the colder temperatures at the start line.
The 2020 race started in Fairbanks and ends in Big Lake. There's also an added Kotzebue loop to make things just a little more interesting.
Along with a shakeup to the race route, many Iron Dog teams look different as well.

Team 6, now made up of Brad George and Tyson Johnson, said it helps make the race fresh. George says he's excited to race with an experienced partner like Johnson.

"The last couple years I've gone with a rookie to rookie partner, and having somebody like him, with all that experience, it's definitely nice," George said. "He's even got, a lot of wisdom that even I don't have, you know?"

Many of the teams will blow through Nenana and continue on their way until they hit Galena. Stick with Channel 2 for all of your updates on the 2020 Iron Dog Race.
