EAGLE RIVER, Alaska (KTUU) - The third annual Books with the Chinooks brought a lot of laughter to the Eagle River Library on Wednesday.
Four baseball players with the Chugiak Chinooks, an Alaska Baseball League team, came and read to around 60 parents and children.
The players delighted the children with noises, funny voices and brought characters to life.
Afterward, children and parents were invited to ask the players questions. They also signed autographs for the children as well.
For the players, it's all about being able to give back to a community that's welcomed them with open arms.
"It's just great to be around the community," pitcher Jared Reklaitis said, "Especially the young ones."
"They give so much to us, coming to the games, supporting us," first baseman Nick Kreutzer said. "I just want to give them my time and my experiences."
