Alaska skiers make podium push in Vermont.

ANCHORAGE (KTUU) — Alaska cross-country skiers are making themselves at home in Craftsbury, Vermont this weekend, competing in the U.S. National Cross-Country Ski Championships.

Fairbanks athlete Logan Hanneman skied his way to silver Friday in the 1.7K Classic Sprint, and fellow Alaska Pacific University teammate Hannah Halverson took bronze in the women’s sprint.

On Thursday, Anchorage’s Caitlin Patterson won the women’s 10K classic in 30 minutes and 44.7 seconds, while APU’s Jessica Yeaton took second place, and APU’s Rosie Frankowski took fifth.

In the Men’s 15k race, APU’s David Norris took fifth and finished nearly four seconds faster than teammate Scott Patterson. Alaska Winter Stars Gus Schumacher took seventh.

These results have a significant impact on who will represent the United States at the 2019 World Championships in Austria and the World Cup berths.
