UPDATE: Signings continue as Jessee, Powers & lantto all go Division I

ANCHORAGE (KTUU) - Brody Jessee, Izzy Powers & Mikayla lantto added their names to the growing list of Alaskans signing their National Letters of Intent to play Divsion I sports this November.

According to the National Collegiate Athletic Association, nearly 8 million students compete in high school sports, and typically less than five percent of those athletes will compete on the NCAA Div. I level.

Keeping those numbers in mind, that makes Wednesday's events even more special for the 5 athletes from Alaska heading to compete at the NCAA’s highest level in Basketball and Soccer.

Mikayla lantto -- Pennsylvania State University Girls Hockey Grew up in Eagle River

South High School:
Asa Kinnear -- St. Cloud State Hockey
Brody Jessee -- Gonzaga University Baseball

Mat-Su Career Tech:
Olivia Davies -- University of Hawai'i Women’s Basketball
Alexis Friesen – University of Nevada Women’s Soccer

Bartlett High School:
Corina Froehle – Eastern Washington Women’s Soccer

Chugiak High School:
Izzy Powers -- University of Hawaii Swimming and Diving
