Alaska musher wins Finnmarksløpet 500K

ANCHORAGE (KTUU) — Dallas Seavey wasn’t the only musher representing Alaska in Norway’s Finnmarksløpet dog sled race.

Alaskan born Hanna Lyrek won the 500 kilometer race, while Seavey is currently competing in the 1200 kilometer race.

At 19 years old, Lyrek is the youngest Finnmark winner according to NewsBeezer.

Lyrek has lived in Seward, Talkeetna and Denali until she was five years old, when her family moved Alta, Norway. Lyrek’s father Don ran the Iditarod in 1995, and her mother Trine ran the race in 2005.
