Alaska's Andrew Kurka takes silver in men's Super G, sitting at Paralympics

Andrew Kurka, a paralympic skier from Palmer, Alaska (NBCOlympics)

Less than 24 hours after he got his first medal of his Paralympic career, Andrew Kurka has his second.

The Alaskan took home the silver in the men's Super G, sitting event with a time of 1:26.89. Gold goes to Canada's Kurt Oatway and bronze to France's Frederic Francois.

""It could have been quite a bit better. I had two major mistakes, both of which cost me a second, " Kurka said. "One coming down in the finish pitch here and one starting at the top, but I’m happy to get a podium, I’m happy to get the silver medal."

He also says Super G is his favorite event and while he isn't happy with the mistakes, still being able to get a medal is something to be proud of.

"When it comes down to it I've learned a lot today. I messed up twice on this course and for most people messing up one time means they're not on the podium."
