Big Lake Ice Rink hit hard by recent earthquake

BIG LAKE (KTUU) — The Big Lake Lions Club Recreation Center was hit hard by the recent 7.0 Earthquake, located just miles away from epicenter.

The privately held community center estimates between $60,000 and $70,000 dollars in damage was done on Nov. 30.

On top of damage from the earthquake itself, the ice rink won’t be able to host two of its three holiday tournaments — a loss in revenue of $5,000.

Rink manager Bill Haller says that so far, about $9,000 has been raised through private donations and a GoFundMe page.
