Chitina dip net fishery to reopen this weekend after sockeye run recovers

ANCHORAGE (KTUU) - The Copper River dipnet fishery is being opened for a brief period this weekend, after an emergency order closed the fishery down in mid-June.

Fish and Game says the 2018 sockeye salmon run on the Copper River has improved, allowing for the opening of the personal use dip net fishery.

The fishery will be open for 84 hours, from noon on Thursday, July 12, through 11:59 p.m. Sunday, July 15.
