Final four survivors advance to state basketball title on Saturday

ANCHORAGE (KTUU) - The Dimond girls basketball team is back in the 4A ASAA state basketball championship.

The defending champs defeated the Soldotna Stars 46 to 36. They were led by Alissa Pili, who had 22 points, 2 steals, 1 assist, and 18 rebounds.

They will face Bartlett in the championship Saturday.

The Golden Bears defeated Chugiak to advance to the championship game.

In 3A boys, in a fight to the finish, the Anchorage Christian School Lions hung on to beat the Ben Eielson Raves, 64-62.

ACS was led by Christian Bolton with 17 points, 1 steal, and 4 rebounds. He was followed up by Brock Renson with 15 points, 1 block, 2 steals and 12 rebounds.

The Lions will face Valdez in the championship game Saturday at 3 pm.

In the 4A boys bracket, it was a defensive slog, but Dimond is headed back to the championship, defeating Colony 42 to 34. The Lynx will play Ketchikan who took down Soldotna 42-34.

Wrapping up the state semifinals, the ACS Lady Lions are headed back to its third straight state title game, beating Kenai 51 to 30. They will face the Nikiski Bulldogs, who beat the Barrow Whalers 62 to 54.
