ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) — It’s been a wild week for Anchorage’s Jeff Overbaugh, and it took an unfortunate turn Wednesday after the long snapper was waived by the Atlanta Falcons. The 24-year-old was signed to Atlanta’s practice squad after the preseason but started Week 1 against the Eagles in place of Josh Harris, who sat due to injury.
Being waived means Overbaugh’s contract will be available to every NFL team, and if he passes through waivers he’ll become a free agent.
Last season Overbaugh played in both of the Minnesota Vikings' playoff games. During his career at Service High School, Overbaugh won a pair of state championships before starting all four years at San Diego State, never missing a snap in his college career.
