ANCHORAGE (KTUU) - As the High School wrestling season comes to a close, Palmer High School’s Levi Farris became the program’s all-time leader in wins with 123 and counting.
“Just another stepping stone,” said Farris over the phone on Monday.
During Senior night on November 29 against Eagle River, Farris was recognized by Bill Stoltze, a former Republican representative and senator from Chugiak.
“Coming into high school I was a confident wrestler, I wasn’t really thinking about the record,” said Farris.
On top of being the all-time wins leader at Palmer High, the senior is a state champion in the 152-lb. weight class, and earned academic all-American honors his sophomore season.
Next fall, Farris plans on attending Colorado School of Mines to wrestle on an academic scholarship and plans on majoring in Engineering.
High School region wrestling is scheduled to take place this weekend, and December 14-15 ASAA state championships will be held at the Alaska Airlines Center.
