The Alaska Department of Fish and Game is opening Fish Creek to personal use dipnetting starting 6:00 a.m. Tuesday morning.
ADF&G said Monday that the escapement goal for Fish Creek sockeye salmon has been reached, allowing biologists to open the river to dipnetters.
ADF&G is projecting a sockeye run in excess of 35,000 fish.
The opening is only for sockeye salmon, and any king salmon caught must be released immediately.
The Department of Fish and Game encourages dipnetters to review Fish Creek dip net regulations before hitting the water.
Fish Creek will be open for dipnetting from 6:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. until July 31.
