Four Alaska high schools nationally recognized by Special Olympics

ANCHORAGE (KTUU) - West High School was chosen for the ESPN Honor Roll as a unified champion school, one of only 34 schools in the nation recognized by ESPN for their inclusion efforts, and just the second school in Alaska history to receive the honor.

East, Eagle River, and Chugiak also received national banner recognition for their work with inclusive sports for students with and without disabilities. All four Anchorage high schools will be presented with a banner to hang in their school.

Statewide, 80 Alaska schools are taking part in Special Olympic Unified Schools programming which means they have inclusive school climate that exudes a sense of collaboration, engagement and respect for all members of the student body and staff.
