Iron Dog to start in Fairbanks for the 2020 race and finish in Willow

Anchorage (KTUU) New changes coming to the Iron Dog race for 2020. The race will start in Fairbanks and finish in Willow.

In a press release by the race, it says they have also added an additional 375 miles to the course with a loop through Kotzebue.

With that added mileage, racers will now travel a total distance of 2, 049 miles from Fairbanks to Willow.

Registration for the 2020 race officially opened Thursday, August 1st.

The first 15 teams signing up between August 1st and September 1st, 2019 get the early bird entry and will received a start drawing position advantage for the 1st seed.

Registration closes October 31, 2019.

The 2020 Iron Dog race kicks off February 16th, 2020.
