ANCHORAGE (KTUU) - Olympic gold medalist Kikkan Randall was named as an honorary chair for the November 7 Women of Achievement and Youth Awards put on by the YWCA Alaska and BP.
Randall was chosen as an honorary chair for the event based on her dedication to serving Alaska, and inspiring the next generation according to YWCA Alaska CEO, Barbara Swenson.
2018 has been a crazy year for Randall, from winning a gold medal at the Winter Olympics, retiring as one of the most decorated cross-country skiers in U.S. history, and this fall announcing her battle with breast cancer.
Each year YWCA & BP hold the Women of Achievement & Youth Awards which also serves as a fundraiser for YWCA Alaska. The non-profit provides free breast and cervical cancer screenings.
