Eagle River, AK (KTUU) Sometimes, the third time is the last straw.
For the third straight summer in a row, thieves have broken into the snack shack at the Knik little league in Eagle River. This year, league officials have had enough.
"They took money from the petty cash box, candy, sodas," coaching coordinator Sandra Mullen said. "They also took our karaoke machine that we used as a microphone to announce tournaments."
The league says the thieves broke in sometime over the weekend, using a crowbar to pry open a side door, and climbed in through a crawl space in the attic.
With the damages to the door and the property stolen, it's all totaling around 2500 dollars.
But the community rallied together. Members came and helped weld the door shut and then made sure the crawl space would not be usable again.
"Our community, our little league community, is wonderful. The Eagle River community is wonderful," Mullen said. "As soon as we announced it, and told people what was going on, we had people offering donations to help, offering donations to restock the snack shack, help with fixing the damages. it's wonderful."
If you have any information, the league says to call APD Crimestoppers or reach out to the league via email or Facebook.
