Boston, MA (KTUU) It's the end of an era in Boston. Long time tight end for the New England Patriots Rob Gronkowski announced his retirement on his Instagram account early Sunday.
Gronkowski spent nine seasons with the Patriots. In his announcement, Gronk thanked the Pats, owner Robert Kraft and head coach Bill Belichick for "drafting his silliness back in 2010."
He won three Super Bowls and five AFC championships with New England.
He owns the Patriots' franchise record for touchdown receptions with 79 and has other NFL records, including the most postseason touchdown's for a tight end with 12.
