ANCHORAGE (KTUU) - The first musher has scratched from Iditarod 2019.

Veteran musher Shaynee Traska, of Gladwin Michigan, made the decision in Nikolai Wednesday afternoon, race officials said.

The musher had 10 dogs in harness when she made the decision "out of the best interest of her race team," race officials wrote.

Traska finished last year's Iditarod in 48th place.
