Anchorage The Soldotna Stars are your ASAA Division II state football champions, winning 69-23 over Lathrop. This is the Stars 8th straight state title.
When asked what was the turning point in the season, senior quarterback Jersey Truesdell said it was getting that win over West at the beginning of the season.
"Taking a loss to them last year, that broke a lot of our hearts and a lot of the hard work that we put in, and we just didn't show out that first week last year," he said. "And then to come up here and win a big game like that, 49 to 6, that really set the tone for our season."
In Division III, Houston remains undefeated on the year with a state title win over Barrow. The Hawks won 41 to 8 over the Whalers.
Senior quarterback Gavin Mullhaney couldn't put into works what winning state feels like.
"It's amazing. It's unbelievable. There's no words to describe it. It's crazy. We worked all summer, weight room all summer. And it payed off," he said with a smile.
