South claims 8th straight CIC regional wrestling title, Colony takes home Region III wrestling title

Anchorage (KTUU) The South Wolverines claimed their 8th straight CIC wrestling regional title this weekend.

This is the first time the Wolverines hosted the event.

South won by a whopping 457 points. East came in second with 230 points, with West in third and Service in fourth in the boys bracket.

In the girls bracket, East took the win, with South in second and Service in third.

The Wolverines also qualified 28 wrestlers for state, 23 boys and 5 girls.

The Colony Knights took home the Region III wrestling title, with Soldotna coming in second, Wasilla in third, Palmer fourth, followed by Kodiak. For the girls, Soldotna came in first, then Kodiak second, Wasilla third, then Palmer and Colony.

The ASAA state wrestling tournament are Friday, December 20th and Saturday, December 21st at the Alaska Airlines Center.
