Stellar mushing field kicks off 2020 Kuskokwim 300

Anchorage (KTUU) With a field full of top mushing names, including former Iditarod and Yukon Quest winners, the 2020 Kuskokwim 300 started on Friday.

21 mushers fill this year's field, including defending champ Matt Failor. He's joined by defending Iditarod champion and Bethel native Pete Kaiser. Other top names in the field include Nic Petit, Joar Leifseth Ulsom, Jeff King, Jessie Holmes, and Lance Mackey, to name a few. All of these mushers are racing for a 160,000 dollar purse.

At the time of the writing of this article, the mushers were approaching the first checkpoint at Tulusak.
