Tailgate Tour heads West, plus prep polls clash over top five

ANCHORAGE (KTUU) - The Alaska high school football season is down to its final three weekends of the regular season as the KTUU Tailgate Tour heads west for a week 6 match up between the Eagles and Lynx.

Both teams looking to get a coveted Cook Inlet Conference win, which can make or break a playoff run with the top four teams from each Div. I conference advancing to the state playoffs.

West started off their season slow, but are currently riding a two-game win streak outscoring their opponents 85-42. All three of the Eagles' wins have come when they score twenty points or more in a game.
Heading into week 6 Dimond looks to rebound from a 56-0 shutout against Service. The Lynx' only win of the season came week 1 against the Kodiak 36-0.

Week 6 Prep Football Polls

The Alaska Sports Broadcasting Network Polls and Alaska Football Coaches Poll released their week 6 prep football polls, and still no agreement over the top large schools team.

Both polls have the same top five teams just in a different order, ASBN has Service ranked first, and the coaches’ poll has the T-Birds number one in their Div. I poll. Before the Cougars can worry about their October 5 game against East they host rival South this weekend. Despite being undefeated with a chance to clinch their conference this week, Chugiak couldn’t crack top two in the polls.

Undefeated Soldotna continues to roll in the small schools division, ranked number one in both polls coming off a 51-14 victory over Lathrop last weekend. This weekend the Stars head to Kodiak to take on the Bears.
