ANCHORAGE (KTUU) - The Alaska State Fair won’t be the only event making noise in the Mat-Su Valley as the KTUU tailgate tour heads to Palmer Friday for its game of the week between Dimond and Palmer.
For the second week straight the Moose will be put to the test against a larger division school, while the Lynx look to continue their winning ways. Palmer fell to Chugiak during Week 1 36-2 on the road, and Dimond shutout Kodiak 36-0.
ASBN Week 1 Poll
Plenty of teams made statements Week 1 of the Alaska prep football season, and none bigger then Div. II powerhouse Soldotna, which dismantled Div. I West 49-6 in Anchorage. Along with a big performance from the Stars, South turned heads on Saturday shutting out Bartlett 37-0, and East picked up where they left off defeating Colony 44-16.
The Alaska Sports Broadcasting Network poll Div. I poll saw a major shakeup as three teams fell out the top five, and has the defending state champions East Thunderbirds back atop this week’s poll followed by Service South, Chugiak and Wasilla rounding out the top 5.
