Anchorage (KTUU) Just two weeks left of the regular season for Alaska high school football and the KTUU Tailgate Tour is headed out to Service high school for a week 7 showdown between the Cougars and the Eagles.
Lots on the line with this game, with the Cougars holding onto the only undefeated season left in Division I and the Eagles looking to extend their win streak to four in a row.
Service started off the season hot and has never stepped off the gas. The Cougars are coming off a 37 -20 win over rival South last weekend, including an impressive kickoff return for a touchdown from Letrevyon Sanchez-Dickerson.
West is now riding a three game win streak and is looking to continue to make a playoff push. The Eagles beat Dimond last week 42-16, but have a tough back end of their season, playing Service and then South in the final two weeks.
Week 7 Prep Football Polls
Still no agreement between the Alaska Sports Broadcasting Network and the Alaska Football Coaches Polls. Both were released on Monday and the top teams in Division I are still different for the top two spots, while spots three and four, they actually agree on.
ASBN has Service atop its Division I poll, while the Coaches' poll has the Thunderbirds of East. East is second for ASBN, with Service second for the Coaches Poll. West and Juneau are ranked 3rd and 4th in both polls.
A surprising note for the AK Coaches' poll, Chugiak drops out altogether after a loss to Juneau and South stays put at number 5. Chugiak stays at number 5 for ASBN.
In the ASBN Div. II/III category, Soldotna still sits atop after beating Kodiak 63-7.
