The Fishing Report: August 23, 2018

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) — Mat-Su Valley

On the Susitna River drainage, the limits have increased for coho salmon to four per day and eight in possession. Fishing is very good in most locations.
If you’re looking to catch cohos this weekend, check out Deshka, Little Susitna, Fish Creek, or the Eklutna Tailrace.
For lake fishing this weekend, try Lalen Lake or Benka Lake for some trout!

Anchorage

Coho fishing has slowed down at Ship Creek. Try casting spinners or fishing cured salmon roe under a slip-bobber during the incoming tide.
Salmon fishing at Bird Creek has been good. Be safe out there, keep an eye out for bears and watch your catch and your surroundings!
Trout and Dolly Varden fishing continues to be excellent on Campbell Creek.

Kenai

Kenai River reopened for sockeye salmon fishing. The bag limit is three per day and six in possession.
Meanwhile, sockeye salmon fishing is closed on the Upper Kenai River, Russian River Confluence Area, and the Russian River.
Want to catch some trout this weekend? Try Carter Lake in Moose Pass or Upper Summit Lake just before Cooper Landing.
