ANCHORAGE (KTUU) - Today is a good day for Tobin Karlberg. The Grace Christian high school senior guard has been named the 2017-18 Gatorade Alaska boys basketball player of the year.

Karlberg is the first player from Grace Christian high school to be given this award.

Karlberg is now a finalist for the similar National Player of the Year, which will be announced in later this month.

The 6-foot, 185-pound senior guard has been an integral part to the Grizzlies season, helping them to an 18-7 record. He's averaged 20.1 points, 4.3 steals and 3.9 assists through 25 games.

Karlberg has signed an NLI to play basketball this fall with the University of Alaska-Anchorage.
