ANCHORAGE (KTUU) - For the 18th time in program history, the University of Alaska Anchorage Women’s basketball team tips off at the NCAA Div. II tournament.
The third-seeded Seawolves will take on western region rival Hawaii Pacific in the first round of western region action in La Jolla, Calif. UAA is the first team to play Friday at 11 a.m. Alaska time, and if they win they would go on to play Saturday. The Green and Gold took on the Sharks earlier this season in February defeating HPU 64-55.
Wandersee working wonders
Kodiak product Hannah Wandersee will cap off her UAA career this March, and her senior season has been nothing short of spectacular.
Wandersee was named preseason GNAC player of the year, GNAC player of the Year and recently First Team All-Region. She led the nationally 8th-ranked Seawolves (28-2) with 14.5 points, 5.2 rebounds and 1.0 blocks per game, along with 87 percent free-throw shooting.
