ANCHORAGE (KTUU) - Seven new players will be joining the UAA Seawolves' hockey team this season, according to head hockey coach Matt Curley.

Curley announced the addition of four forwards, two defensemen and one goalie in a press release Thursday.

Malcolm Hayes comes to the Seawolves after three seasons at the University of Maine. The defenseman has one season of eligibility left. Hayes scored four goals and three assists in 54 games for the Black Bears.

Competing with Kristian Stead for time in goal is Eric Szudor. The goalie comes to UAA after a three year career at Fort McMurray in the AJHL. Szudor posted a 2.8 goal against average, a .909 save percentage and compiled a 75-33-10 record for the Oil Barons. He was a finalist for goaltender of the year in 2016-17.

Another defenseman joining the team, Drayson Pears, tallied 10 goals and 52 assists during his three year career with the Victoria Grizzlies of the BCHL.

Andrew Lane joins the Seawolves from the Shreveport Mudbugs of the NAHL. He led the Mudbugs to the Robertson Cup title in 2017-18. The forward scored six goals and had 44 assists in 110 games.

Coming off a lucrative junior career, Zach Court has the ability to make plays at both ends of the ice, according to Curley. The forward scored 39 goals and 77 assists in 211 games played during a four year junior career.

Local boy Tanner Schachle, from Wasilla, joins the team after playing the last two seasons with the Fairbanks Ice Dogs. He helped lead the team to a Robertson Cup Finals appearance in 2017-18. Schachle scored 45 goals and 47 assists in 219 career games.
