Pittsburgh, PA Despite muddy conditions, the UAA men's and women's cross country teams had stellar outings at the NCAA Division II cross country national championships this weekend.
Both teams achieved a top ten finish, with the women finishing sixth overall and the men finishing eighth overall.
Wesley Kirui, Zennah Jepchumba, Emmah Cehlimo and Nancy Jeptoo nabbed All-American honors for the Seawolves.
Individually, Wesley Kirui came through with a top ten finish. He placed ninth for UAA in the 10K race with a time of 32:35. Felix Kemboi finished 54th with a time of 33:51.
Top finishers for the women include Emmah Chelimo and Zennah Jepchumba. Jepchumba finished 22nd with Chelimo right behind her in 23rd, both finishing with identical times of 23:15 in the 6K race.
With this sixth place finish, the UAA women's team have extended their streak of finishing in the top eight to ten years.
The men's team has now finished in the top eight the past eight of the last nine years.
