Anchorage (KTUU)- The University of Alaska Anchorage women’s basketball team defeated Western Oregon 76-48 on Thursday to claim their fifth outright Great Northwest Athletic Conference regular-season title in the last six seasons, having shared it with Northwest Nazarene in 2017-18.

The sharpshooting Seawolves drained 13 three-pointers, Safiyyah Yasin finished with 15 points and Jahnna Hajdukovich added 12 points.

Earlier this week the Seawolves moved up to No. 2 in Wednesday's second official NCAA Div. II West Region rankings, which go toward determining NCAA Tournament qualification. The regional rankings will be released again Mar. 4, leading to the announcement of the NCAA Tournament field Mar. 8.

The UAA women’s basketball team will wrap up its regular season on Saturday against Concordia-Portland at 3:15 p.m. AST.
