UAA's McCarthy becomes Women’s all-time wins leader

ANCHROAGE (KTUU) - The University of Alaska Anchorage women’s basketball team defeated Seattle Pacific 78-37 Saturday, and made head coach Ryan McCarthy the program all-time wins leader with 177.

“From the (assistant) coaches that I’ve had to the ladies that have played for me, those are their wins,” said McCarthy.

In true McCarthy fashion the Seawolves played their trademark ‘Mayhem’ defense forcing 24 turnovers, and limited the Nighthawks to under 25 percent from the field.

Senior center Hannah Wandersee had 18 points, and guard Yazmeen Goo pitched in 11 points, four assists and four steals. This win also moves the green and gold into a tie with Northwest Nazarene for first place in the GNAC.

The Seawolves begin a four-game road trip Thursday when they tip off with Western Washington.
