Wolverines, Wolfpack and Warriors win region hockey championships

ANCHORAGE (KTUU)- In front of a packed Ben Boeke Arena, South High Hockey won the 2018 Cook Inlet Conference championship defeating West 3-1.

The Eagles would get out to an early lead after a goal from Jackson Lindemann in the first period. But the Wolverines would respond in the second period, Trevor Sawicki deflecting a Hanbit Yi slap shot into the back of the net to tie the game.

The game winning goal would come in the third period from South's Nic Corbin, plus another insurance goal from Sawicki.

In the Mid Alaska Conference championship West Valley defeating Juneau Douglas 3-2, and Wasilla capturing the North Star Conference championship beating Colony 4-3.

Alaska School Activities Association State Hockey Championship begins February 8th at the Menard Sports Center.
