The Morning Anchor/Producer/MMJ is responsible for producing content for early morning newscasts including: creating content for TV and web, writing scripts, editing copy, ordering graphics to fit stories, coordinating live shots, communicating with anchors and production staff during live broadcasts, and directing reporters & photographers on deadline to meet the needs and vision of the Morning Show. This role includes answers phones, deploys breaking news crews, makes beat calls, covering the Assignment Desk/Web Desk and making regular public appearances in the community on behalf of KTUU. The Morning News Anchor/Producer also co-anchors KTUU's "Morning Edition" newscast from 5a-7a M-F and shoots/writes/edits content as an MMJ, as assigned. The shift is Monday-Friday 2a-11a.
•Anchor newscasts and report "live" from the scene, as assigned
•Write clearly and accurately; great grammar, strong initiative and persistent attention to detail required
•Produce newscasts including: stacking, writing scripts, editing copy, ordering graphics to fit stories, making maps, coordinating live shots with directors, production staff, reporters & photographers
•Demonstrate sound news judgment, collaborate with others to present the story in the best way
•Writes copy for TV and web daily, including gathering breaking news information by phone in the overnight hours
•Must be able to work well under deadline pressure and with limited supervision
•Ability to maintain professional and ethical conduct at the station and in the community
•Must be professional and courteous with the public, answer phones and greeting guests
•3 years experience on-air and experience with digital video cameras, newsroom software and non-linear editing
•Must hold a valid driver’s license and be insurable
•Must be willing to work flexible hours, including overnight, evening, weekends, and holidays as assigned
•College degree in journalism or related field required or equivalent professional experience
