Channel 2 photojournalists and reporters go to some pretty amazing places to tell our stories. To give you a virtual look at some of those locations, we’ve created an interactive map of 360-degree photos.
To see a picture, click on a dot around the state. When the photo pops up, you can use your mouse -- or your finger, for mobile users -- to explore in 360 degrees. Click the Facebook link and use your phone to look around!
Every location also includes a link to open the picture in a new browser, best for people who want to view the picture using a VR headset such as Google Cardboard or the Samsung Gear VR via the YouTube app.
This map of more than 40 locations is one of the first of its kind, created with development help from CARTO in a collaboration with Channel 2.
If Santa brought you a 360-degree camera for Christmas, be sure to share YOUR 360 photos and videos of Alaska on our map by uploading them here.
Be sure to check out the video above for an interactive tour of the old abandoned buildings of Adak Air Force Base, walking along with our Nikki Carvajal and Albert Lutan.
